It’s Spring! And Easter is A’Comin!
Is it just me or does it feel like a lot longer than a month since the last First Monday email? This First Monday also marks our fourth week into this Coronavirus quarantine/social distancing season. It is our new reality, people say. In some ways, I hope it is so.
Although it will be nice to return to jobs that Blake and I truly enjoy and to be able to hug my friends again, I am confident that there is good to be found in this time of forced “Shabbat”. Yesterday I shared some thoughts on the blog about the impact this time has had on me personally. CLICK HERE to read more…but in short, it has been a time of refocus on the sufficiency of my Savior and the blessing of the three people I hold most dear. And just in time for Easter, my friends! Something tells me this is no coincidence. I don’t really believe in coincidences anyway!
Update and Spring/Summer Pajama Needs:
In the midst of these troubling days, those facing a breast cancer diagnosis and our mission to offer HOPE to those facing treatment continues to be heavy on my heart. The weight of responsibility is perhaps even more in this season of needing to be vigilant especially for those with compromised immunity. The requests for kits continue to roll in and after some deliberation, we do believe this form of love and hope is much needed. Although our trips to the post office are less frequent and carefully thought out, we continue to send kits out on a weekly basis. (This may need to change as we receive new COVID-19 information and recommendations.)
Obviously, Kit Assembly gatherings have been postponed and with this unforeseen reality, we are especially thankful for the kit assemblies of January and February held by St. Martin’s Church, Deb Vincent’s Opulenza Designs Jewelry Party, and Seneca Creek Church that have kept us stocked with kits ready to go during this time. We are also very grateful to all our amazing sewing volunteers that have provided flannel wraps and seatbelt pillows since our last request for help.
As the weather is changing, we have transitioned to lighter button down pajamas for those facing treatment. We understand this is a time of financial hardship for many, and we are sensitive to that reality. If you are in a position to contribute to the needs of Pinked this month, spring/summer button down pajama donations would be hugely appreciated. Our Amazon Wishlist has been updated with our current needs. For those that may have some Kohl’s Cash to use, I am including a photo (below) of a pair of pajamas that work well for our kit recipients. Thanks so much for considering it!
