Exciting things are happening on this 1st Monday! I have the privilege of joining a Breast Cancer support group to share about Pinked Perspective’s mission this evening at the Green Spring location of Johns Hopkins Breast Center. Many months ago, I got to meet up with the awesome Jill Mull and Elizabeth Saylor, patient navigators to breast cancer patients at Johns Hopkins to share about Pinked. They have so graciously invited me to be a part of this month’s support group.
While I take advantage of opportunities such as these to get the word out about Pinked, the requests for kits continue to come in. Handling Kit requests has taken on a new form recently with some crazy cyber attacks this summer. That is a blog post for a different day, but I am relieved to at least have figured out a better system that helps me to know which requests are real. The truth is that there are plenty of requests that are real and many ladies are in need. As a small non-profit ministry with limited resources, we might not be the one to meet every request that comes our way, a reality that I have wrestled with over the last few months.
With that being said we will press on in courage and strength to meet the needs that warrant the hope and help we provide. One of our greatest needs this month is button down pajamas. We have a continual need for button down pajamas in various seasons and in varying sizes. This is one of the most costly item that is shipped out in the kit. Button down pajamas are important for someone facing a mastectomy surgery because of the drains (usually two on either side) that are in need of emptying periodically throughout the days of recovery. Soft and cozy pajamas are also welcomed by someone struggling through chemo treatments. If you are willing to donate button down pajamas this month of August, please see our Amazon Wishlist or feel free to shop clearance racks and arrange a drop off with me if you are local to Anne Arundel County in MD.
We could never press on in this mission of Pinked without your support and donations. Thank you once again for sharing in the burden for those facing a breast cancer diagnosis.
