“Because God delights in us entering into the fray of this world, to bring light, beauty, and truth and to stand strongly and boldly for His purposes, He sends us trials and training to prepare us for the platform He would have us stand on.” ~Sally Clarkson
I was reminded several different times this week of this truth. As I look back to almost ten years ago when I was facing the news of my diagnosis and ten months of treatment ahead, I could never imagine the platform He was calling me to through it. The training had little to do with the best medical options to consider, all the physical changes that come from a mastectomy, or coping through the yuck of chemo (although how better to be trained up than walking through it). In fact, the platform really wasn’t and still isn’t breast cancer at all.
The training was in understanding just how much God cared for me and wanted to provide for me in this valley low. So He sent many people to me and our family during that time. Some were close friends who literally strapped on the heavy yoke with us but many I had never met before. At every bend in the road along one the largest bends in the road, there were pieces of God’s provision puzzle waiting for us.
I do love that our mastectomy kits provide practical and tangible items that help with recovery, but more than anything I pray that our kits are one of those puzzle pieces in the epic puzzle of God’s provision that those facing this trial can look back on with awe and gratitude, as I so often do.
Pinked Update
Last weekend I had the awesome privilege to represent Pinked Perspective at the Renewed Women’s Conference with Bay Area Community Church’s Womens ministry as a vendor. I have had the opportunity to participate in events such as this a handful of times in order to help spread the word about the ministry of Pinked. Interestingly, it was one of our goals to participate in more events like this when Covid became our reality. It felt sweet and a little bit of normal to be able to do this again.
Thank you so much to those of you that flooded our doorstep with Amazon packages of button down pajamas in April! I never cease to be amazed by your generosity and support for this ministry. Spring/summer button down pajama donations in all sizes are still much needed and hugely appreciated. Our Amazon Wishlist has been updated with our current needs. Thanks so much for considering it!
