When I think about my word for 2021, the pessimism and fatigue in me would choose “survive”. Or perhaps “adapt” since we never know what the next day is going to throw at us. As we continue to very much be in the midst of the scariness of the pandemic and feeling isolated, even the flip of the calendar to a new year struggles to give us the Hope of something different on the horizon. But then I read Proverbs 29:18- “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” I don’t want to perish. I don’t want to just “survive”. I am tired of having to “adapt”. I want to SEE that even in the midst of all this hard, God is moving. And on the days that it is just too difficult to see, I want to rely on past vision and put on my believing glasses. As we all peer ahead into 2021, I am praying that our day-to-day survival and adapt mentality that so many of us have adopted this year will turn to “Vision”- both the ability to see that The Lord is still moving and believing imaginations of brighter days ahead. |
