My name is Kara and I currently live just outside of Annapolis, Maryland where I was blessed to be born and raised. I was born as the youngest and only daughter into a Christ-centered home where I always felt loved and valued. In 2003, I married my Hawaiian-bred husband, Blake at Herrington on the Bay in Friendship, MD. We fell in love over our textbooks while in our Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program in St. Augustine, FL. Prior to expanding our family, we enjoyed traveling to tropical destinations such as Bermuda, Aruba and the Hawaiian islands of Oahu, Maui and the Big Island. As an early Christmas gift in 2007, we welcomed our son into our lives and hearts. Shortly after his first birthday, we were pleasantly surprised to find out we were expecting another little one. Our sweet baby girl arrived in September 2009 making us a family of four.
This picture was taken in July 2011 just before our world was rocked by a breast cancer diagnosis. As we posed for this picture, we had no idea what the immediate future would hold. We are blessed to be standing on the other side of breast cancer treatment confident that there was indeed a great purpose in it. As my perspective on life was “pinked” by breast cancer, I have made it my mission to support others that find themselves facing breast cancer as well.
