There is a tradition that a few of my friends and I try to keep during the summer months. We try to start as early as possible in the summer and continue it until as late in the summer as possible. I didn’t get hooked on it until after my breast cancer journey, but I think my friends had been doing it for a while. We will set our alarms to wake us early and we will get out to the beach to see the sunrise. If there is one word to describe these quiet moments sitting next to my friends experiencing God’s Glory firsthand, it would be refreshing. It is truly energizing to see God’s sovereignty and beauty on display and know that with that same power, He loves little me sitting in my Tommy Bahama beach chair.
It doesn’t have to be the beach. It could be a lake or the mountains. It could be a local park. Right now with the leaves turning is a great time to see it. I encourage you to help your friend get out into nature where she too can be refreshed.
