Artist is not a description I would use of myself. Notice it has been left out of the “About Me” section on the website. I would have been thrilled to have received a little more right-brainedness when God was handing it out. Even after reading Emily Freeman‘s most recent book A Million Little Ways in which she encourages us all to discover the art we were made to live, I still choke on the idea that I could be an {cough cough} artist. I have already written about the impact that the book had me, this website, and the non-profit here.
But just because I don’t feel like an artist in the traditional sense of the word, it doesn’t mean I don’t recognize beautiful art. I am surrounded by really talented, artistic people who inspired me when they took my despair and created something beautiful with it. Stay tuned throughout the month as I will be featuring some of the specific art that was shared with me because of my breast cancer journey.
Perhaps you have always been a creative type and the art you were made to live is a no-brainer. Perhaps you, like me, needed a book like Emily’s to discover that art and your name could actually be used in the same sentence. Whichever describes you, it is my hope that you would seek to discover your art and don’t hesitate for a second to share it with your friend that is dying for something beautiful in the midst of the bleak.
